WE ARE OPEN! Today, all branches of the Dothan Houston County Library System will reopen to the public!

  • Materials checked out before our closure will be due on May 31st.
  • Library hours will be reduced to limit exposure while remaining expansive enough as to not restrict access. Hours are as follows: Monday – Friday: 10:00-6:00PM, Saturday: 10:00-2:00PM; Closed on Sundays. The Ashford Branch will operate under its normal hours. The Bookmobile will resume its regular stops.
  • Library staff will limit the number of patrons allowed into the library to no more than 50 patrons. No extended stays or social gatherings will be allowed anywhere on library property. We strongly encourage patrons to wear face masks while in the library.
  • All chairs, loungers, etc. will be removed or restricted.
  • Computers will be limited to encourage social distancing. Computer time will be limited to the standard two hours. Use of personal devices (laptops, etc.) will be allowed but limited to two hours only.
  • Patrons will be allowed to browse shelves but encouraged to return unwanted items on designated carts.
  • In-library services will be reduced to essential transactions only (check in/out of materials and computer usage only). Patrons will be allowed to print, make copies, scan, fax, and have documents notarized.
  • The U.S. Department of State has severely limited U.S. passport operations and will only process applications for patrons with a qualified life or death emergency or who need a passport for immediate travel within 72 hours. No other passports will be processed during this time.
  • Returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours.
  • No study room usage will be allowed. Use of the local history room will be prohibited.
  • All programs, events, and meeting room reservations will be cancelled until further notice or until it is deemed safe to congregate in large groups. Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming Virtual Summer Reading Program!
  • Minors under the age of 19 must have at least one parent or guardian present.
