The Dothan Houston County Library System (DHCLS) has launched JobNow, a new resource for jobseekers at every step in the job search process. JobNow will help support economic opportunity and advancement for individuals, one of the areas of focus identified in the library’s extensive strategic plan for 2022 through 2026.

JobNow connects jobseekers with live, on-demand help with trained experts every day from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Experts can assist jobseekers with writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and searching, applying, and preparing for jobs. Users can also access resume templates, interview tips, skills assessment tools, and special recorded workshops 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to job search resources, users can also access a lifelong learning center for adults, which includes resources for GED test preparation, Microsoft office help, and live academic tutoring.

“Public libraries have traditionally supported people of all walks of life in applying for jobs, writing resumes, or otherwise navigating the job search process,” says Chris Warren, DHCLS Director. “We’re proud to have added JobNow as yet another tool for people who want to pursue new opportunities for themselves, whether they’re applying for their first job or changing careers.”

Patrons can access JobNow by visiting dhcls.org/digital-library and clicking the link under Job and Career Resources.

Established in 1949, DHCLS today serves a population of approximately 105,000 residents through its main library, two branches, a bookmobile, and an extensive selection of ebooks and digital resources. In FY 2021, DHCLS welcomed over 111,000 visitors, and DHCLS patrons borrowed over 170,000 items, including books, audiobooks, DVDs, and ebooks. DHCLS offers a variety of innovative services, such as the Library of Things, a Seed Library, and Story Walks at Kiwanis Park and Walton Park. The library also offers programs for children, teens, and adults, ranging from storytimes, craft programs, technology instruction, and job search assistance.
