ABOUT THE BOOKMOBILE

The Dothan Houston County Library Bookmobile is dedicated to providing access to information, recreational reading material and ideas to that portion of the reading public who do not have ready access to a library facility due to a variety of barriers, including time, expense, transportation, geography, institutionalization, or handicap. The staff encourages the positive aspects of recreational as well as educational reading and considers the needs and interests of each individual patron. The bookmobile provides a convenient, non-threatening, and non-judgmental atmosphere for readers of all ages.

RESERVING ITEMS

If the materials you are looking for are not on the Bookmobile, items may be reserved from the greater library collection and picked up on the Bookmobile. You can reserve items through the online catalog (selecting the Bookmobile as the pickup library), by calling us at (334) 793-9767 or by emailing us at bookmobile@dhcls.org. Please include your name and stop location.

LOAN PERIODS

All DHCLS materials checked out on the Bookmobile circulate for one month, and are subject to the renewal limits detailed below. All materials (including Bookmobile materials) checked out at other DHCLS branches (Downtown, Westgate, and Ashford) circulate as detailed on the Loan Policy Chart. The Loan Policy Chart also details limits on the number of items that can be checked out by a patron at any one time, which apply to all DHCLS branches (including the Bookmobile).

RENEWALS

Most materials checked out on the Bookmobile can be renewed up to two times, provided that another patron has not placed a hold on the item, and that the item is not already overdue. Items may be renewed at any library branch, on the Bookmobile, or through the online catalog.

WIRELESS INTERNET (Wi-Fi) Access

The Bookmobile is a Wi-Fi Hotspot. Please ask a Bookmobile Librarian for instructions on how to get online.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

Please check the DHCLS website for any changes to Bookmobile services or location stops. Locations will be notified and, if possible, rescheduled if Bookmobile service is suspended due to mechanical difficulties, inclement weather, or other unforeseen reasons. Overdue fines will be waived for Bookmobile patrons with items that are due on days that Bookmobile service is suspended.

INTERNET & COMPUTERS

In addition to the Wi-Fi Hotspot available on the Bookmobile (see above), the Bookmobile has two laptops available for patron usage. Please ask a Bookmobile Librarian for access.
